Without fun learning cannot take place.

What can you do at Stansfeld?

Going on residential field trips is the most enjoyable part of many children's school career. A field excursion is always special and for some children it will make the difference that allows them to reach their potential. We do this by providing opportunities to visit, and to work in, some superb teaching and activity sites.

It is often remembered not because of the directed learning that took place but because of the socialisation elements of the trip. When someone fell in a puddle or because the whole group got wet and muddy. Extra ordinary experiences that they can share with their classmates / friends.

Learning outdoors takes place all the time – it is a life skill, understanding what clothes to take out in case of changeable weather or an understanding of the basic concepts of risk assessment.

There are, of course, defined learning objectives for the week that take the form of practical based work.  These courses are planned to meet the requirements of the visiting group.  Below are a list of possible course activities, please click here.

A level Geography      A level Biology       GCSE Geography    Primary

Full day, 10 hour visits to the South Coast, Poole through to Swanage for Geography or Biology, with possible overnight stay in youth Hostels.

If your group makes a booking, a planning meeting will be arranged to view the site and discuss the actual course content and any special requirements of the visiting party.  These details will be confirmed in writing. The courses are tailor made for each school.

All of the staff at Stansfeld are qualified teachers as well as experts in fieldwork. All have experience of classroom based teaching and have areas of specialism in the ‘field’.
