Why come to Stansfeld?
Fieldtrips are often the strongest and deepest memories from a school career. Though,
for most, an occasional if not one off experience they have profound effects. Fieldwork
can bring a subject to life in a way that is impossible through the use of textbooks
or computers. It releases students from the confines of the class into the ‘real
world.’ Where outcomes are not always the same and cannot be always predicted.

Outdoor learning caters for the Every Child Matters agenda in a way that is different from the classroom and can be the catalyst for future learning. It can be used to teach a wide selection of key skills and if appropriate provide opportunities for the completion of examination and coursework requirements. It can enhance curriculum enrichment and personal and social development. Further more it provides healthy exercise and is fun.
The best and most successful trips are generally guided by the principles of safety, fun and clear objectives for the week.
